Junaid Announces Major Tariff Reductions at Gwadar Port to Boost Competitiveness

Gwadar: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced reductions in tariff rates at Gwadar Port aimed at enhancing its role as a key regional logistics and transshipment hub. The announcement includes a 25 percent reduction in berthing fees for container vessels and ships carrying transit or transshipment cargo. Charges on international transshipment container cargo have been reduced by 40 percent, while those for transit container cargo have been cut by 31 percent. Additionally, Gwadar Port will now offer one month of free storage for general cargo, a significant increase from the typical five days offered at other national ports.

According to Radio Pakistan, these measures are part of a strategic effort to position Gwadar as a competitive and investor-friendly deep-sea port. Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry emphasized that the initiatives are intended to transform Gwadar into a strategic gateway for trade, supporting its development as a modern port capable of attracting global shipping and commerce.
