Finance Minister Oversees ECC Meeting, Approves Key Funding and Policy Measures


Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened today at the Finance Division to approve significant funding allocations and policy measures aimed at advancing development projects and supporting various governmental sectors.



According to Press Information Department, the ECC sanctioned a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) of Rs. 7,026.3 million under the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme (SAP), ensuring the continuation of development projects without cost overruns. In addition, a TSG of Rs. 10.15 billion was approved for the Pakistan Navy’s Hangor Project under the Revised Armed Forces Development Plan-2030.



The Committee also approved funding for various security and operational initiatives, including Rs. 692.9 million for the Islamabad Peace Talks, Rs. 241 million for compensation related to a suicide bomb blast in Islamabad, and Rs. 1,883.7 million for the expansion of the Safe City project. Other allocations included Rs. 800 million for Pakistan Coast Guards and Rs. 413.9 million for security charges related to the Reko Diq Project.



The ECC agreed to release Rs. 733 million for Pakistan Television Corporation’s salary requirements and Rs. 183.5 million for telecom infrastructure in Gilgit-Baltistan. Additionally, Rs. 119.9 million was allocated for revised salaries of Parliamentary Secretaries.



Further approvals included Rs. 8,758.9 million for urban infrastructure in Karachi and Hyderabad, and Rs. 2,840 million for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under SAP. The ECC also approved funds for modernization of Pakistan Mint and current expenditure in Gilgit-Baltistan.



Other key approvals involved budget estimates for IPO-Pakistan, operational continuity for Engro Vopak Terminal, and financial facilities for Pakistan State Oil. The revised framework for resolving payment issues with Cnergyico PK Limited was also endorsed.



The meeting was attended by several federal ministers and senior officials from relevant ministries and divisions.
