Mayor of Karachi Outlines Muharram-ul-Haram Safety Measures and Facilities

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced that comprehensive plans are in place to ensure the peaceful conduct of Muharram-ul-Haram Majalis and processions. He assured that the city administration, municipal bodies, law enforcement agencies, and religious scholars are collaborating to maintain peace and provide necessary facilities to mourners.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Mayor emphasized the importance of inter-sect unity and mutual respect during a meeting held at the KMC Building. The meeting included officials such as Municipal Commissioner KMC Abrar Jaffar, Managing Director Water Corporation Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, and heads of relevant departments, alongside religious scholars and procession organizers.

Mayor Wahab stressed the need for all communities to promote peace and tolerance, assuring that issues highlighted by religious leaders will be addressed promptly. He directed institutions to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply at key venues and outlined steps for road repairs, cleanliness, and other municipal services. Muazzam Qureshi has been appointed as the focal person for Muharram arrangements.

The Mayor also noted that Rangers, Police, and other agencies are coordinating under a unified strategy to ensure safety during the events. Emergency measures are being taken to address water and sewerage issues, with immediate actions prompted by religious scholars’ feedback.
