Islamabad: Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, underscored the pivotal role of the textile sector in driving the country’s economic growth and exports during a meeting with a delegation from Pakistan’s textile and apparel industry.

According to Radio Pakistan, Aurangzeb emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining regular consultations with the business community through the Ministry of Finance’s Tax Policy Office. This initiative aims to institutionalize continuous engagement with chambers, trade bodies, and associations throughout the year. The Finance Minister acknowledged the constructive input from the textile sector representatives and discussed ongoing government efforts to enhance transparency and compliance through digital monitoring systems.

These systems have already been implemented in major sectors such as sugar, cement, beverages, and tobacco, ensuring broad-based application without exceptions. Aurangzeb highlighted that even sectors with business units owned by the Prime Minister’s family are subject to these measures. The delegation presented proposals for the Federal Budget 2026-27, focusing on enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the textile sector and export industry.
