Finance Minister and British High Commissioner Discuss Economic Cooperation and Reforms

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with Ms. Jane Marriott CMG OBE, British High Commissioner to Pakistan, focusing on bilateral cooperation, economic reforms, and regional developments.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, held at the Finance Division, centered on the evolving global economic environment and its implications for Pakistan, especially considering regional geopolitical developments and energy market volatility. The Finance Minister outlined efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability, manage external sector pressures, and sustain economic reforms for long-term growth.

Senator Aurangzeb pointed out improvements in economic indicators, including external account stability and strong remittance inflows, while briefing on measures to broaden the tax base and enhance transparency through technology-driven reforms. He emphasized the Government’s commitment to policy continuity, fiscal discipline, and structural reforms to foster private sector-led growth.

The discussions included regional and global developments affecting economic stability and supply chains. Both parties agreed on the significance of dialogue and international cooperation in addressing these challenges.
