Islamabad, In a significant move to enhance road safety and infrastructure, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to improve motorways across the country, focusing on emergency services and expedited construction.
According to Press Information Department, the minister’s directives were issued during a high-level meeting at the National Highway Authority. He emphasized the development of a comprehensive plan for emergency medical and helicopter services to assist in accident responses on all motorways. The minister also highlighted the need for accelerated completion of ongoing road projects and prioritized the training of heavy vehicle drivers within the next six months.
Further, Abdul Aleem Khan urged the development of roads connecting Northern Regions to boost tourism and stressed the importance of timely progress on various agreements and MOUs following a recent visit to China. He mandated the establishment of medical emergency points every 50 kilometers along the motorways to ensure quick medical response, integrating these services with local emergency service 1122.
