Federal Government and Provinces Collaborate on $20 Billion Development Framework, Minister Tells World Bank


Islamabad: Bolormaa Amgaabazar, the Country Director of the World Bank, met with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema to discuss the outcomes of the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Pakistan. The CPF, a 10-year framework from FY2026 to FY2035, outlines $20 billion in support for various development projects and reform initiatives.



According to Press Information Department, the Federal Government is working closely with provincial governments to achieve the CPF’s objectives. The meeting covered programs aimed at reducing child stunting through improvements in clean water access, sanitation, healthcare, and nutrition. Climate resilience was also a key topic, focusing on flood mitigation and climate-related risk management, while ensuring food and nutrition security within the water-agriculture nexus. Additionally, transitioning to cleaner energy systems and improving air quality were highlighted as priorities.



The Federal Minister stated that these areas are under both federal and provincial jurisdiction and confirmed that all levels of government are committed to implementing the CPF. The importance of fostering private sector investment through the International Finance Corporation (IFC) was also emphasized as a means to boost exports and drive sustainable economic growth.



The Federal Minister expressed gratitude for the World Bank Group’s support and reiterated the government’s commitment to policy continuity and reform implementation. Bolormaa Amgaabazar reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to Pakistan’s long-term development goals, emphasizing sustained engagement, strategic financing, and technical expertise as key factors in unlocking stronger investment, productivity, and inclusive growth.
