Federal Budget Boosts Support for Social and Infrastructure Projects


Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has disclosed a significant increase in funding for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and other key areas as part of the new federal budget, signaling a strong commitment to social welfare and infrastructure development.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the government has earmarked grants worth 1,777 billion rupees for BISP, as well as for initiatives in AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan, merged districts, and sectors such as higher education, railways, and IT. The finance minister emphasized the priority of completing ongoing projects, allocating eighty-one percent of resources to such projects within the PSDP for 2024-25.



Furthermore, fifty-nine percent of the budget is proposed for basic infrastructure development, with twenty percent dedicated to the social sector, underlining the government’s strategic focus on enhancing national infrastructure and supporting vulnerable populations.
