Electrocution Death in Budgam Highlights Local Negligence


Srinagar, A tragic incident in Budgam district has resulted in the electrocution death of a 41-year-old man, underscoring ongoing safety concerns over local infrastructure maintenance. The man was reportedly cutting grass on his property when he accidentally contacted a live electrical wire.



According to Kashmir Media Service, officials stated that the man was taken to a nearby health center immediately after the accident but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Following the incident, residents of the area protested outside the hospital, accusing the Power Development Department (PDD) of negligence. Protesters pointed to dangerously low-hanging transmission lines as a persistent hazard that had been ignored by local authorities.



The PDD has acknowledged the incident, and police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, focusing on the community’s safety complaints regarding the power lines.
