ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad, Ali Waseem, conducted a pivotal meeting focused on evaluating crime prevention strategies and assessing the police force’s overall performance. The meeting involved key police officials, including SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Investigation Salman Zafar, SSP Security/Administration, zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, during the meeting, DIG Waseem scrutinized the performance of individual officers, emphasizing crime prevention, case investigations, offender arrests, and public facilitation. Show-cause notices were issued to SHOs and investigation officers whose performance was deemed unsatisfactory, with a directive for all SHOs to improve their performance within 15 days.

DIG Waseem instructed officers to intensify efforts against active criminal gangs and utilize all resources to prevent crime. He emphasized the need for apprehending previously recorded, proclaimed, and habitual offenders, while enhancing policing measures to safeguard citizens’ lives and property.

The DIG also highlighted the importance of ensuring recoveries in property-related cases and maintaining regular communication between investigating officers and complainants. He underscored that the police’s duty is to control and prevent crime, not conceal it.

Reiterating the zero-tolerance policy against corruption, DIG Waseem stated that strict action would be taken where corruption is established. He also mentioned that officers with outstanding performance would be encouraged, while those displaying negligence would face departmental action.

The DIG directed officers to hold regular open courts to address citizens’ complaints promptly and in accordance with the law, stressing the importance of attentive and swift resolution of public grievances.
