Deputy Prime Minister Dar Emphasizes Digital Solutions for Disaster Preparedness


Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has highlighted the critical importance of leveraging digital technologies to enhance disaster preparedness and resilience in Pakistan. Speaking at a high-level meeting at the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Dar articulated the necessity of moving from a reactive response approach to one focused on early warning and preparedness.



According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting was convened to discuss the establishment of a Joint Pak-Global Tech Facility aimed at bolstering the nation’s response capabilities against natural disasters, exacerbated by climate change. Dar emphasized the need for efficient and coordinated execution of the plans agreed upon during the discussion.



Chairman of the NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, provided an overview of the NEOC’s functions in disaster monitoring and response. He elaborated on NDMA’s Next Generation Technology project and the proposal to create a Global Resilience Hub, which aims to foster international collaboration in proactive disaster management.
