Sambhal: Protests erupted in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, following the custodial death of a Muslim youth, Irfan, whose body was discovered at the Rai Satti police outpost under Nakasa police station.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Irfan, a resident of Kaggu Sarai, was detained on Sunday night in connection with an unspecified case. His family alleges foul play and claims that Irfan died due to police torture.

Eyewitnesses and viral videos captured the distress of Irfan’s wife and parents upon receiving news of his death. The situation escalated as locals gathered at the police outpost, revealing that officers had allegedly abandoned the post, leaving Irfan’s body unattended.

A senior police official arrived to disperse the crowd and arranged for Irfan’s body to be sent for a postmortem examination.

Irfan’s wife alleged that the police provided no reason for his arrest, stating, “They picked him up from our home without explanation, and when he fell unwell, they denied him medical aid.”

The incident has intensified concerns over custodial deaths and alleged police brutality in the state.
