Islamabad, 13 Oct 2023: The ongoing process of repatriating undocumented Afghan nationals across various regions of Pakistan persists, as more than fifty families have recently been transported back to Afghanistan via the Torkham border, as per the Afghan Commissionerate. The Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees in Pakistan has been orchestrating organized efforts, facilitating the systematic return of these families to their native land, utilizing seventeen trucks in the most recent dispatch, according to a press release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB).
Within the last eight days, the process has witnessed the repatriation of more than six hundred Afghan families, all directed through the Pak-Afghan border at Torkham, marking a significant stride in the ongoing operation. The repatriation process has been characterized by orchestrated logistics and support to ensure a structured and smooth transition of the Afghan nationals back to their homeland.
This initiative of returning Afghan nationals to their homeland has unfolded in tandem with necessary arrangements and amenities being put into place by the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees at the Torkham border. This facilitation aims to streamline the repatriation process and ensure that the undocumented Afghan nationals are able to return to their native land in a structured manner.
While the current movement of fifty families, aided by the provision of seventeen trucks, marks the recent episode in this ongoing procedure, the continuous and collaborative efforts at the Torkham border underpin a larger, systematic operation. The endeavour not only seeks to address the matter of undocumented residency but also to navigate the complexities and sensitivities entwined within the repatriation processes.
