Islamabad: The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) and Living Indus have announced their joint participation in the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) to the UNFCCC, to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan. This collaboration aims to highlight key initiatives in climate action, sustainability, and water security, with a special focus on Pakistan.
According to Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in The South, the announcement followed a meeting between COMSATS Executive Director Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria and Living Indus representative Ms. Aban Marker Kabraji on September 26, 2024. During the meeting, they discussed synergies for their joint representation at COP29 and confirmed Ms. Kabraji’s role as a resource person for a sideline event at the UNFCCC pavilion.

Ambassador Dr. Zakaria will discuss shared water security concerns among COMSATS member states and the importance of intergovernmental cooperation in addressing these issues.
The meeting also addressed broader environmental topics such as permaculture, solid waste management, and the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to organizing high-level forums and promoting international dialogue on sustainable development.
