CM Murad Shah Calls for Swift Execution of Rs141 Billion Road Projects in Sindh


Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has urged for the expedited implementation of key road projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) in a meeting with the National Assembly Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Special Initiatives. The projects, valued at over Rs140.9 billion, aim to enhance regional connectivity and bolster economic growth across the province.



According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting focused on five major road projects, including the Sindh Coastal Highway, Mehran Highway, Rohri-Guddu Road, Tando Allahyar-Tando Adam dual carriageway, and the Sanghar-Rohri Road. These initiatives, being executed through federal-provincial cost-sharing, are expected to significantly improve trade and transportation in Sindh.



The committee, led by MNA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, reviewed the projects’ progress and discussed measures to accelerate their completion. The federal government is contributing Rs96.757 billion, while the Sindh government is providing Rs44.159 billion, with all projects targeted for completion by June 2027.



The meeting highlighted various challenges, including utility relocation and funding issues, which need resolution to ensure timely project completion. Chief Minister Shah emphasized the importance of modern road infrastructure for economic growth and urged for close coordination between federal and provincial agencies.



Chairman Gilani commended the Sindh government’s efforts and assured support from the Standing Committee to resolve any project-related issues at the federal level. Both federal and provincial stakeholders committed to strengthening coordination and expediting fund utilization to remove administrative hurdles and ensure the timely completion of the ongoing PSDP projects in Sindh.
