CM Murad and Federal Minister Khichi Discuss Mazar-e-Quaid and National Library Concerns


KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division Aurangzeb Khan Khichi convened a meeting on Monday to address issues concerning the management of the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar and the National Library of Pakistan’s Karachi Regional Office. Both parties agreed to enhance cooperation for the preservation of these national heritage sites and resolve ongoing administrative challenges.



According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting involved discussions on the management, maintenance, and security of Mazar-e-Quaid, including addressing encroachments, illegal waste dumping, and security threats posed by miscreants. Additionally, the session covered disputes related to the National Library’s Regional Office within the Liaquat Memorial Library complex, focusing on water supply, premises usage, and expansion plans.



The meeting was attended by key officials from both provincial and federal levels, including Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi and Director General National Library of Pakistan. Participants were briefed on the constitutional responsibilities of the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board and examined historical records regarding the administration of the Liaquat Memorial Library.



Chief Minister Shah directed local authorities to mitigate encroachments and improve security around the Mazar-e-Quaid. He also urged the resolution of water supply issues affecting the National Library and emphasized the importance of collaboration to protect national assets.



Federal Minister Khichi highlighted the commitment of the National Heritage and Culture Division to preserving cultural institutions and improving access to knowledge resources. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts to address challenges surrounding Mazar-e-Quaid and emphasized its significance as a national monument.



The meeting concluded with an agreement for continued cooperation between provincial and federal authorities to develop solutions that respect legal and administrative protocols while serving public interest.
