CM Maryam Nawaz and Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Collaborate on Punjab Film City


LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy have agreed on a collaboration for the Punjab Film City project, set to be an extensive media production hub.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting between the chief minister and the filmmaker took place with discussions focusing on the Punjab Film City initiative in NSIT City. The project aims to be Pakistan’s first “end-to-end” media production facility, providing comprehensive resources for film, television, digital media, VFX, and post-production.



Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif outlined the project’s features, including modern studios, sound stages, post-production labs, and a variety of shooting locations, alongside a lake. Additional facilities will include a convention hall, a media trade hub, and a film and music school. She also instructed the Parks and Horticulture Authority to restore the Digital History Museum at Minar-e-Pakistan.



During the meeting, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy commended the chief minister’s efforts in arts and culture and highlighted the revival of traditional festivals such as Basant and the Horse and Cattle Show, noting their potential to attract international attention and provide entertainment opportunities for the public.
