Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Discusses Bilateral Relations and Taiwan Issue with Pakistan’s Senate Chairman


Islamabad, H.E Jiang Zaidong, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, met with Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Chairman of the Senate, at Parliament House, focusing on the longstanding and multifaceted Pakistan-China relationship. The meeting particularly addressed Pakistan’s stance on the Taiwan issue and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the One China Principle.



According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Senate Sanjrani emphasized the robust and historic nature of the Pakistan-China relationship. He highlighted Pakistan’s clear and principled stance on the Taiwan question, affirming the nation’s unwavering commitment to the One China Principle, which forms the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. The Chairman opposed any form of “Taiwan independence” and interference in China’s internal affairs, in line with the principles outlined in the UN Charter.



The Chairman also expressed support for China’s territorial integrity, particularly recognizing Taiwan as an inalienable part of China and supporting China’s efforts for national reunification. He stated that Pakistan rejects the so-called elections in Taiwan, citing non-participation in the electoral process by the majority of the population.



The meeting also underscored the strategic partnership between China and Pakistan, with the Chairman expressing high regard for the relationship. The enduring support of China, especially during challenging times, was acknowledged, demonstrating the depth of the bilateral ties.



Discussions included progress on critical projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Gwadar Port, with the Chinese Ambassador appreciating Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and the importance of collaborative efforts for development objectives.



The Chinese Ambassador affirmed continued support for Pakistan’s development goals, reinforcing the commitment to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries.
