China and Pakistan Pledge to Enhance Strategic Partnership


Islamabad: China and Pakistan have committed to bolstering their strategic partnership and cooperation in various sectors, as articulated in a recent meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong. The discussions emphasized the need for prompt action on agreements reached during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to China, focusing on areas such as agriculture, information technology, and industrial development.



According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the importance of swiftly implementing the decisions made during his visit to China. Key areas of focus include expanding collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, particularly in agriculture, IT, industries, special economic zones (SEZs), and the mining sector. The Prime Minister also highlighted the necessity of following up on the memorandums of understanding signed at the recent B2B Investment Conference in Hangzhou.



Additional topics discussed during the meeting were the acceleration of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) realignment project, enhancing security, counter-terrorism, and defense cooperation, as well as economic and financial support. Both parties also exchanged views on regional and international developments. Ambassador Jiang reassured Prime Minister Sharif of China’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its partnership with Pakistan and expanding cooperation in all sectors.
