KARACHI: Karachi Mayor’s Spokesperson and Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Karamullah Waqasi, has announced a series of critical decisions aimed at transforming Karachi’s infrastructure and improving civic amenities for its residents. These decisions were made during a Sindh Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Sindh Cabinet has approved development projects worth Rs. 11.198 billion to enhance Karachi’s infrastructure. The projects are expected to improve the city’s road network, rehabilitate major thoroughfares, and upgrade the traffic management system in areas such as Clifton, Korangi, and Scheme-33, benefiting millions of daily commuters.
The Cabinet has also sanctioned Rs. 8.824 billion in additional funding for 16 water supply and drainage initiatives, targeting Karachi’s persistent water and sewerage issues. Waqasi emphasized that these projects are designed to ensure access to clean drinking water and improve the drainage infrastructure.
The approval of two major flyover projects at Power House Chowrangi and Surjani Town 4K Chowrangi was also announced, aimed at easing traffic congestion and reducing fuel consumption for daily commuters.
In education, the Sindh Cabinet has approved the charter for Fatimiyah International University Karachi, anticipated to enhance higher education opportunities in the province. Additionally, the Cabinet has allocated over Rs. 395 million to settle outstanding liabilities in the health sector and endorsed the Sindh Nursing Workforce Strategic Policy to strengthen healthcare services.
Under Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah’s leadership, the Sindh Government is accelerating development efforts across Karachi and the broader province. Waqasi reiterated the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to addressing urban challenges and improving the quality of life for Karachi’s residents through sustainable development initiatives.
