Islamabad: A delegation from the URAAN Overseas Pakistanis Summer Scholars Programme 2026 visited the Supreme Court of Pakistan as part of their study tour to gain insight into the nation’s constitutional institutions. The initiative, part of the Youth Ki URAAN Programme, aims to reconnect young Pakistani diaspora members with their homeland by exposing them to its governance and policymaking.
According to Press Information Department, the delegation met with the Chief Justice of Pakistan, who discussed the judiciary’s structure and the critical role of the District Judiciary in providing accessible justice. The Chief Justice explained the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee’s efforts in spearheading judicial reforms and enhancing coordination across the justice sector.
The Chief Justice detailed the judiciary’s reform agenda, focusing on creating a citizen-centric and efficient justice system through initiatives like digital court services, the National Judicial Analytics Dashboard, and the Overseas Litigants Facilitation Cell. Emphasis was placed on improving accessibility and public trust through these measures.
Furthermore, the Chief Justice highlighted the judiciary’s commitment to inclusive justice via the Gender-Responsive Justice Initiative and investments in infrastructure and digital connectivity. These efforts are supported by the Access to Justice Development Fund. The visit concluded with a question-and-answer session, where the Chief Justice engaged with scholars on topics related to constitutional governance and the future of Pakistan’s justice system.
