Pakistan-Morocco Fertilizer Partnership Crucial for Food Security: Minister’s Visit Highlights Strategic Collaboration


Casablanca: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, emphasized the strategic importance of the Pakistan Maroc Phosphore S.A. (PMP) plant during his visit to the facility in Jorf Lasfar, Morocco. The joint venture between Morocco’s OCP Group and Pakistan’s Fauji Foundation is vital for ensuring a steady supply of phosphate-based materials crucial for Pakistan’s fertilizer industry.



According to Press Information Department, the Minister received a detailed briefing on the plant’s operations and toured its key sections. He interacted with the management and workforce, acknowledging their role in maintaining high operational standards. Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted the project’s significance in safeguarding Pakistan’s food security by providing an uninterrupted supply of essential raw materials, thereby shielding the nation from global supply chain disruptions.



The Minister referred to the PMP project as a testament to the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Morocco, emphasizing its contribution to mutual economic value and regional food security. He reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Morocco in various sectors, including agriculture and trade.



Rana Tanveer Hussain instructed the plant management to maintain a consistent supply of raw materials and explore opportunities for expanding production capacity. He noted that surplus production could enhance international trade and strengthen economic ties between the two countries. The Minister expressed optimism that the partnership would continue to foster agricultural development and sustainable food security for both nations.
