Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan to Attend ECO Summit in Uzbekistan

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is set to visit Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to participate in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit beginning on Wednesday.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a weekly briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch announced that Prime Minister Kakar would underscore Pakistan’s dedication to the ECO Vision 2025 at the summit. The Prime Minister’s agenda includes promoting enhanced cooperation in key sectors such as trade, transport, connectivity, energy, tourism, and economic growth, and outlining Pakistan’s strategy for the future functioning of the organization to foster regional connectivity and collective prosperity.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will conduct bilateral discussions with Uzbek leaders and other summit attendees. The spokesperson addressed the issue of illegal foreign residents in Pakistan, asserting that the country’s repatriation plan covers all foreign nationals residing unlawfully within its borders, in accordance with Pakistan’s domestic laws and international standards, without affecting recognized refugees.

Regarding the death sentence of a retired Indian Naval Officer by a Qatari court, the spokesperson remarked on the incident as evidence of an extensive Indian espionage network that surpasses South Asian boundaries, criticizing India’s actions as a violation of international laws and questioning its credibility as a reliable international partner.

Furthermore, the arrest of an Indian naval officer in Balochistan was cited as part of ongoing Indian state-sponsored terrorism, subversion, and espionage against Pakistan. The Foreign Office highlighted the recent human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), including the killing and wounding of Kashmiris in October, and called for the international community to press India to respect the United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir’s self-determination.

The spokesperson also expressed deep concern over the situation in Gaza, urging the UN Security Council to take action by calling for an end to the siege, the protection of civilians, and the creation of humanitarian corridors to deliver essential supplies to the inhabitants.
