Canada Expresses Support for Islamabad Talks Amid Middle East Tensions


Islamabad: Canada has expressed its readiness to support ongoing talks in Islamabad, as conveyed by Anita Anand, Canada’s Minister for Foreign Affairs. This announcement comes amid evolving conditions in the Middle East and recent dialogues between Canadian and Pakistani officials.



According to Radio Pakistan, Anita Anand communicated her support through a post on her X handle, revealing that she has engaged in multiple discussions with her Pakistani counterpart, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, over the past few days. These conversations have centered around the situation in the Middle East, with Dar informing Anand about upcoming negotiations scheduled for later this week.



The Canadian Foreign Minister extended her gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for Pakistan’s efforts, particularly its role in facilitating the current two-week ceasefire. Anand underscored the importance of maintaining and potentially expanding the ceasefire to Lebanon, emphasizing the need for continued communication as talks progress.
