Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee for the Export of Surplus Sugar, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has finalized the modalities to export 200,000 metric tons of sugar. The meeting also approved the formation of a monitoring committee to oversee sugar prices.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister instructed relevant ministries to expedite the process and complete pending formalities to benefit the sugar industry, sugarcane farmers, and enhance foreign exchange earnings while ensuring protection for domestic consumers. The meeting was attended by ministers responsible for National Food Security and Climate Change, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, and secretaries from various federal and provincial departments.
