Islamabad, 10 Oct 2023:Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Mr. Amer Ali Ahmad, hosted a Live E-Katcheri session today at the BISP Headquarters in Islamabad, as part of a dedicated effort to directly address and resolve beneficiary issues and complaints related to the Benazir Kafaalat Programme. Originating from BISP’s official Facebook page, this live, online platform provided beneficiaries and the public an opportunity to directly communicate their concerns about tranche disbursement issues, particularly those related to eligibility and non-receipt of financial assistance, directly to BISP’s leadership. The secretary engaged actively with callers, issuing immediate directives to officers to resolve highlighted concerns and emphasized BISP’s commitment to ensuring efficient and transparent financial assistance disbursement, according to a press release from the Press Information Department (PID).
During the session, Secretary BISP interacted with beneficiaries, addressing issues mainly pertaining to eligibility status and non-provision of financial assistance. In a rapid response, he instructed relevant officers to directly connect with the affected beneficiaries, with the aim to resolve their issues within a day. BISP has resolved 897 complaints to date, resulting in the recovery of more than Rs. 1.4 million. In immediate action against agents held responsible for deductions, the BISP management has registered 12 First Information Reports (FIRs) and arrested eight agents. A notable instance during the session involved a complaint about unauthorized withdrawal from a beneficiary’s stipend. The Secretary acted decisively, instructing the Human Resources department to suspend the related official in the pertinent region immediately. Mr. Amer Ali Ahmad stressed the importance of the Live E-Katcheri in the continual efforts of BISP to address and resolve the grievances of beneficiaries, underscoring the programme’s dedication to timely solution provision and overall experience enhancement for those depending on BISP for support.
