Muzaffarabad, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry announced the initiation of a public communication campaign to emphasize the Jammu and Kashmir issue and expose alleged human rights abuses in the region. Starting from Mirpur on March 16, the campaign aims to address the ongoing situation in Occupied Kashmir and counteract what is described as “nefarious intentions” by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the campaign is set to begin from the base camp of Azadi in Mirpur, aiming to bring international attention to the reported human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and the broader Kashmir issue. President Chaudhry highlighted his previous efforts to expose what he termed as India’s fascist agenda and violations in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir not only in Azad Kashmir but also across Europe, America, the developing world, the Middle East, and other significant regions. He praised the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell and the Kashmir Policy Research Institute for their roles in addressing the Kashmir issue, especially in educating the youth about its various aspects.
The briefing, which outlined the campaign, was held at the President’s Office in Muzaffarabad and was delivered by Dr. Raja Muhammad Sajjad Khan, Director of Administration and Kashmir Policy Research Institute. Alongside President Chaudhry, Presidential Advisor Sardar Imtiaz Khan, Secretary Presidential Affairs Dr. Idris Abbasi, Secretary Liberation Cell Mirza Wajahat Rashid Baig, and others attended the briefing.
President Chaudhry further stated the increased responsibilities of the Azadi Base Camp government following the events of August 5, 2019, pointing out the suppression of expression and social media in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the efforts to bring the Kashmiri issue and human rights violations to global attention more effectively than ever before.
Additionally, Chaudhry criticized Prime Minister Modi’s actions in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly his visit, which the president views as an attempt to mislead about the region’s situation. He praised the establishment of the Kashmir Policy Research Institute for addressing the research gap on Kashmir and promised full cooperation from Azad Kashmir’s universities with the institute.
The President confirmed his commitment to reorganize the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell to meet modern needs, focusing on research, media, and awareness programs. He reiterated his dedication to exposing the challenges faced by Kashmir and opposing the Modi government’s policies through the upcoming public relations campaign.
