Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) in Srinagar has voiced deep concern regarding the ongoing detention of thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders and activists, in various jails across India and in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, an APHC spokesperson in Srinagar highlighted the severe challenges faced by the people of Kashmir, who have been enduring what they describe as the worst form of state terrorism by India. This is attributed to their ongoing demand for the right to self-determination.
The spokesperson remarked on the resilience of the Kashmiri people, stating that their determination and steadfastness have significantly challenged Indian military efforts and disrupted India’s attempts to suppress their will.
In addition, the APHC spokesperson condemned the seizure of properties and homes in Kashmir by the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party regime, aided by Indian armed forces. The spokesperson called upon the United Nations Human Rights Council and other international rights organizations to visit Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The aim of such a visit would be to observe the dire situation firsthand, where, the APHC, people are confined to their homes and deprived of basic freedoms.
Furthermore, the APHC urged the international community to support the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination. The spokesperson appealed for assistance in halting the human rights violations allegedly committed by Indian forces in the region and advocated for the resolution of the prolonged Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
