Ahsan Iqbal Advocates for Dialogue in Middle East Amid Rising Tensions at Narowal Peace Conference


Narowal: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, underscored the importance of dialogue for conflict resolution amid escalating tensions in the Middle East during the closing ceremony of the International Narowal Peace Dialogue 2026. Emphasizing a united front as crucial for national success, Iqbal recalled Pakistan’s historical victories through unity and stressed the need for similar solidarity to confront current challenges.



According to Press Information Department, Iqbal highlighted Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role in promoting peace and stability amidst rising international tensions. He emphasized the significance of restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy over confrontation, reinforcing the enduring relevance of Pakistan’s foreign policy. The Narowal Peace Dialogue, he noted, exemplifies the country’s commitment to global peacebuilding and its efforts to bridge divides among nations.



Iqbal expressed confidence that the conference participants would spread the message of peace and brotherhood, acting as ambassadors of positive change. He highlighted Pakistan’s proactive role in facilitating international dialogue and de-escalation, reinforcing its stature as a responsible advocate for global peace and cooperation.



Emphasizing education’s transformative power, Iqbal pointed out the need for the Muslim world to reconnect with knowledge and research to reclaim a leading global position. He urged youth to reject discrimination and embody unity, recalling past national victories achieved through collective strength. The Minister stressed that Pakistan must now win the “battle of development” through unity and hard work, urging students to engage in character-building and leadership development.



Iqbal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting Allama Iqbal’s philosophy to instill self-awareness and national consciousness among youth. He cautioned against traditional approaches, advocating for unity and knowledge to achieve sustainable progress by 2047. Stressing Islamic teachings, he underscored respect for all religions, promoting a peaceful and inclusive world.



Former Prime Minister of Morocco, Dr. Saad Fine El Otmani, praised the University of Narowal as a model institution and commended the conference’s role in fostering dialogue and mutual respect. The ceremony concluded with Iqbal Ahmad presenting the declaration of the Second International Narowal Peace Dialogue 2026, emphasizing faith, equality, and dialogue as key to fostering harmony.
