ISLAMABAD: In a significant crackdown on crime, the Islamabad Police have arrested 74 individuals involved in various criminal activities, recovering a substantial quantity of drugs and weapons. The arrests were part of ongoing efforts by the police to maintain peace and security in the federal capital.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation resulted in the arrest of 34 suspects who were found with 4,065 grams of hashish, 1,081 grams of Ice, 1,387 grams of heroin, 84 bottles of liquor, and 19 pistols with ammunition. Legal proceedings have been initiated against these individuals, and investigations are underway to uncover further details.
In a parallel initiative targeting proclaimed offenders and absconders, police teams successfully apprehended 40 more suspects. This concerted effort follows directives from Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, to intensify actions against criminal activities in the city.
SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, emphasized the police’s commitment to safeguarding public safety and reiterated that maintaining peace and protecting citizens is a top priority. The police have also called on residents to promptly report any suspicious activities to their local station or through the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline, fostering collaboration between the community and law enforcement to combat crime effectively.
