Pakistan and Turkiye Pledge Strategic Partnership on Climate Resilience

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye have committed to developing a deeper strategic partnership focused on climate resilience, flood management, and water security. This decision emerged from discussions held between a high-level Turkish delegation and senior officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination.

According to Radio Pakistan, the two nations also agreed to enhance regional cooperation in anticipation of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP31, which is scheduled to take place in Antalya, Turkiye, in November. The conference aims to address the implementation of global climate commitments, adaptation financing, loss-and-damage support for vulnerable nations, and to accelerate action on climate resilience in response to increasing extreme weather events globally.

Both countries emphasized the importance of the partnership in strengthening efforts to tackle climate-related challenges in the region. The collaboration is expected to set a precedent for future international cooperation on climate resilience and environmental sustainability.
