Islamabad: Ahad Cheema, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, led a high-level meeting to evaluate proposed reforms to the Public Private Partnership Authority (P3A) law. The reforms aim to enhance governance, transparency, and efficiency in the implementation of Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects across Pakistan. Key officials, including the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Privatization Muhammad Ali and senior members from the Privatization Division and P3A, participated in the meeting to discuss the legal and structural amendments under review.
According to Press Information Department, Minister Cheema underscored the government’s dedication to implementing reforms that improve institutional performance and ensure accountability in PPP projects. The meeting highlighted proposed amendments that would strengthen the Cabinet Committee on Privatization and shift P3A under the Privatization Division to improve coordination and efficiency.
The reforms also propose creating a structured project pipeline and bidding mechanism, involving business councils in project development, and establishing a Project Development Facility to support viable PPP projects. These changes aim to enhance monitoring systems, streamline access to necessary utilities, and foster an investor-friendly environment to encourage private sector involvement in national development projects.
