Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called on the international community to hold India accountable for the ongoing detention of thousands of Kashmiris. The group cites the unlawful imprisonment of these individuals as a violation of fundamental rights.
According to a statement released by Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas criticized the detention of approximately five thousand Kashmiri political prisoners, including prominent Hurriyat leaders. Minhas described these detentions as a manifestation of the frustration of the occupation authorities, accusing the Modi regime of using draconian laws to stifle Kashmiri demands for self-determination.
Minhas further condemned the Hindutva-inspired regime for delaying the release of political detainees despite court orders. He claimed that such tactics are employed to weaken the resolve of those advocating for Kashmiri freedom. He asserted that house raids, arrests, and harassment would not deter the Kashmiri people’s commitment to their liberation movement.
The list of detainees includes notable figures such as Massart Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and others. These individuals have reportedly been held in various jails across Jammu and Kashmir, as well as throughout India, both before and after the events of August 5, 2019.
The APHC continues to urge international intervention to address these human rights concerns in the region.
