World Day for Glaciers and International Day of Forests Highlight Global Environmental Concerns

Islamabad: World Day for Glaciers and International Day of Forests were observed today, focusing on the urgent environmental challenges facing the planet. The events highlighted the critical need for protecting glaciers and forests, both essential components of the Earth’s ecosystem, which are increasingly threatened by climate change.

According to Radio Pakistan: World Day for Glaciers emphasized the pressing need to safeguard these vital freshwater sources. Glaciers are melting at a rapid pace due to rising global temperatures, posing significant risks to water supplies and sea-level rise. Meanwhile, the International Day of Forests centered on the theme of “Mobilizing Political Will,” urging global leaders to take decisive action in preserving and restoring forested areas. These observances serve as a call to action for governments and communities worldwide to prioritize environmental conservation efforts.
