Interior Minister Urges Dialogue to Prevent Middle East Conflicts

Doha: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has emphasized the necessity of sustained dialogue and engagement to avert conflicts, particularly highlighting recent efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States.

According to Radio Pakistan, Naqvi addressed the Global Security Forum 2026 in Doha, Qatar, where he outlined Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East. He noted the significant risks posed by the Iran-US conflict to regional and global stability. The Minister credited the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for playing a pivotal role in fostering dialogue through his engagements with international leaders.

Naqvi also detailed his personal involvement in peace efforts, including diplomatic visits to Tehran and discussions with Iranian officials. He underscored the complexity of achieving peace, stating it requires ongoing patience and trust rather than reliance on singular meetings.

Addressing regional security, Naqvi referenced the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, clarifying it as a defensive alliance. He emphasized Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, with significant losses among citizens and security forces, and called for enhanced cooperation and intelligence sharing to combat terrorism, which he described as a shared adversary.

Additionally, Naqvi praised Pakistan’s role in UN peace missions, commending the country’s personnel for their commitment to protecting civilians and restoring peace in conflict zones. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to fostering dialogue, peace, and international cooperation.
