Washington DC, The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved an additional one billion dollars in financing to aid the Dasu Hydropower Project in Pakistan, aiming to boost the transition to clean and affordable energy.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this new funding will enhance the hydropower electricity supply and expand socio-economic services for local communities. It will also strengthen the Water and Power Development Authority’s capabilities in preparing future hydropower projects. The Dasu Hydropower Project, recognized as one of the premier sites globally, is expected to significantly influence Pakistan’s energy sector by promoting greener energy solutions and reducing electricity costs.
The additional investment will also intensify efforts in Upper Kohistan, focusing on improvements in education, health, employment, and transport, contributing to the broader socio-economic uplift of the area.
