Uzbekistan and Pakistan Explore New Avenues for Trade and Connectivity


Islamabad: In a recent meeting, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, and Uzbek Ambassador H.E. Alisher Tukhtaev discussed prospects for boosting bilateral trade and cooperation between the two countries. The talks highlighted shared historical and cultural ties and explored new opportunities for economic collaboration.



According to a statement by Press Information Department, Abdul Aleem Khan proposed the establishment of display centers by Uzbek investors in Pakistan as a means to enhance trade ties. The minister emphasized the importance of Uzbekistan’s investment in Pakistan’s infrastructure projects, including motorways, and suggested facilitating tourism by offering short-term visas on arrival for travelers from Europe and America at Uzbek airports.



The meeting also covered the upcoming visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister to Uzbekistan next month, with discussions on the role of such high-level exchanges in strengthening mutual relations. Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the significance of improving land connectivity and suggested the expansion of air travel and railway lines to further cement ties.



Ambassador Tukhtaev expressed Uzbekistan’s willingness to deepen cultural and trade relations with Pakistan. He assured cooperation from the Uzbek government, reflecting the mutual aim to create positive progress in the coming days. The discussions underscored the strategic importance of enhancing communication networks to connect with Central Asian countries, which are familiar to the Pakistani populace.
