Government Plans to Boost Domestic Battery Storage Manufacturing

Islamabad: The Pakistani government is preparing to introduce a policy aimed at encouraging the local manufacturing of battery energy storage systems, Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari announced at a conference in Islamabad. The initiative seeks to reduce reliance on imported solutions by fostering domestic expertise in design and integration.

According to Radio Pakistan, the policy is being developed by the Ministry of Industries and Production and will offer incentives to stimulate local production. Leghari emphasized the role of universities in training skilled workers who can maintain and eventually manufacture these systems. He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to increasing its clean energy share from the current fifty-five percent to ninety percent by 2035.
