Lahore: Punjab Police maintained a high alert to ensure the security of mourning processions and Majalis during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain. According to Punjab Police, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, confirmed that the sacred events were conducted peacefully and securely. A comprehensive security plan was implemented for Majalis, mourning processions, and the annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Data Ali Hajveri.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem reported that 730 Majalis and 420 mourning processions took place across the province. Over 42,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for security duties, with assistance from the Elite Force, Traffic Police, and volunteers. Security measures included the use of 390 walk-through gates and 6,427 metal detectors for screening. Continuous monitoring was conducted through the Safe Cities Authority’s cameras, ensuring the safety of the events.

In Lahore, more than 10,000 police officers and personnel were tasked with securing 44 Majalis and 17 mourning processions. High-ranking officials, including CCPO Lahore, RPOs, and DPOs, supervised the security arrangements. IG Punjab noted that special measures were in place for pilgrims attending the annual Urs, with control rooms actively monitoring all events. Snipers were positioned on rooftops along procession routes, and lady police personnel were assigned to oversee the security of female mourners. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem called upon Peace Committees, community leaders, and civil society to actively contribute to maintaining a peaceful environment.
