Islamabad, July 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):The United States appreciates Pakistan’s efforts to advance the peace process and stability in South Asia, including by encouraging the Taliban to engage in substantive negotiations. In his weekly press briefing in Washington, Spokesman of the US State Department Ned Price said that Pakistan has the potential to have a critical role in enabling secure Afghanistan. He said the United States and Pakistan have interests in the realm of counter terrorism in the region. Ned Price said the United States worked very closely with Pakistan over the course of many years in pursuit of some of those mutual interests. The US State Department Spokesman said any government that comes to power through force in Afghanistan will not have legitimacy in the eyes of the broad international community.
