UN Resident Coordinator Meets Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker in Islamabad

Islamabad: United Nations Resident Coordinator in Pakistan, Muhammad Yahya, met with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, at the Parliament House. During their meeting, Sadiq acknowledged Yahya’s efforts in fostering collaboration between Pakistan and the United Nations, highlighting the partnership’s foundation of mutual trust and shared goals.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Sadiq emphasized the significance of the UN’s support in Pakistan’s development and humanitarian efforts. He expressed optimism about the continued strengthening of ties between the two entities. Sadiq also underscored the importance of women’s empowerment and mentioned initiatives such as the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus and the Gender Mainstreaming Committee, aimed at enhancing women’s roles and addressing related issues.

Sadiq conveyed his best wishes to Yahya for his future endeavors. Yahya, in turn, thanked Sadiq for the recognition and expressed his appreciation for the hospitality received during his tenure in Pakistan.
