Ulema Mashaikh Federation Urges Media Compliance with Islamic Standards

Karachi: The Ulema Mashaikh Federation of Pakistan, representing religious scholars and spiritual leaders nationwide, has raised alarms over what it labels as indecent content in television dramas, news bulletins, and social media. The group demands immediate bans on programs featuring female anchors without headscarves, threatening a nationwide protest if action is not taken within a month.

According to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, the Federation emphasizes that as an Islamic state founded on the principle of Kalima Tayyaba, Pakistan’s institutions must uphold Islamic values, national traditions, and the Constitution. The Federation criticizes certain media content for contradicting Islamic teachings and contributing to social decline.

The organization calls for urgent action by the Government and PEMRA, including the implementation of a media code of conduct grounded in Islamic and moral values. If no measures are taken, religious leaders plan to initiate a nationwide protest.

Additionally, the Federation urges religious figures to promote Islamic values and moral reform in public forums. A crucial meeting is slated for July 12 in Karachi to discuss media conduct and potential protest plans.
