ISLAMABAD: Candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, María Fernanda Espinosa, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House today. During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to multilateralism and the United Nations. He expressed hopes that the future leadership of the UN would uphold the organization’s core principles and work towards global peace and prosperity.
According to Press Information Department, Espinosa expressed gratitude for the meeting and commended Pakistan’s role in regional peace efforts and its longstanding active participation in the UN. Espinosa, who previously visited Pakistan in 2019 as President of the United Nations General Assembly, is vying for the position of UN Secretary-General.
