New Delhi, June 29, 2021 (PPI-OT): Indian police booked Twitter India managing director Manish Maheshwari for showing a map of Jammu and Kashmir including Ladakh as a separate entity on its website. The FIR under Section 505 (2) of IPC and Section 74 of the IT (Amendment) Act 2008 was lodged on the complaint of a local lawyer, Bulandshahr police officer SP Santosh Kumar Singh said.

The map showed Jammu and Kashmir along with Ladakh as a separate country. After the pressure from Modi government, Twitter quietly withdrew the map. The map had appeared on the career section of Twitter’s website under the header ‘Tweep Life’. Earlier, the American micro-blogging giant showed same map. This is not the first time that Twitter showed such map. Earlier, it had shown Leh as part of China.
