The Telegraph Critiques Modi’s Approach to Kashmir Issues

New Delhi, Criticism has mounted against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged oversight of critical issues in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir region, as reported by The Telegraph, India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, The Telegraph has expressed concern over Modi’s apparent neglect of key challenges in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the region’s prolonged absence of an elected government and limited local electoral processes over the past six years. Despite efforts to project stability and progress, the editorial argues that Modi’s policies and rhetoric fail to align with the on-the-ground reality or meet the expectations of the Kashmiri populace.

The newspaper specifically highlighted the lack of progress in organizing assembly elections despite a Supreme Court directive and the absence of a clear strategy for restoring statehood, addressing youth unemployment, and countering insurgency issues during Modi’s recent visit to the valley.

Instead of tackling these fundamental concerns, Modi’s discourse was criticized for concentrating on claimed successes that do not resonate with the genuine needs and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The editorial also shed light on the dynamics of local politics, noting the tensions and conflicting interests among various political groups in Kashmir, which further complicate the region’s political landscape and impede meaningful dialogue and resolution.

The piece concludes that the current political maneuvers and discourse, both from the central government and regional political entities, are insufficient to address the nuanced and deep-seated issues facing Jammu and Kashmir, calling for a more engaged and responsive approach to governance in the region.
