Islamabad: Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has lauded the forthcoming peace agreement between Iran and the United States as a significant diplomatic success for Pakistan. The deal, scheduled to be signed on Friday, marks a notable achievement in the country’s international relations, enhancing its prestige on the global stage.
According to Radio Pakistan, Asif addressed the National Assembly, emphasizing the leadership’s vision and diplomatic efforts that led to this recognition. He described it as one of the most significant accomplishments in Pakistan’s 78-year history. The Defense Minister highlighted the country’s commitment to promoting peace, following a recent military success and expressing optimism for future economic achievements.
Asif extended gratitude to the United States for acknowledging the injustices faced by Iran and taking steps toward peace. He also congratulated Iran’s leadership and people for their unity during this sensitive period. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also praised Pakistan’s diplomatic achievement, commending efforts by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other key officials in mediating peace between the two nations.
The Iranian Ambassador was present during the session, which continued with discussions on the upcoming financial year’s budget. Lawmakers debated various economic challenges, emphasizing the need for reforms and relief measures for citizens amid ongoing fiscal constraints.
