Islamabad: The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Privatization convened at Parliament House under the leadership of Mr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar, MNA. The meeting, which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, focused on confirming the minutes of the previous session and reviewing the implementation status of past recommendations. The committee stressed the importance of timely execution of its directives and urged relevant departments to provide accurate and updated information promptly.
According to the National Assembly of Pakistan, the committee received a detailed briefing on the current state and future plans for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL). It was noted that the Federal Cabinet had approved ZTBL’s inclusion in the privatization program for 2024-2029, and the Privatisation Commission Board had designated it as a major privatization project. The committee also discussed the proposed privatization of Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and requested comprehensive updates on the progress and process involved. Emphasizing the need for transparency and due diligence, the committee recommended safeguarding the employment status and service rights of current employees in line with existing laws and regulations.
The meeting was attended by committee members, including Mr. Anwar-ul-Haq Chaudhary, Ms. Saba Sadiq, Ms. Samar Haroon Bilour, Ms. Sehar Kamran, and Mr. Arshad Abdullah Vohra. The Secretary of the Ministry of Privatisation/Privatisation Commission, the President/CEO of ZTBL, and senior officials from the ministry and its departments were also present.
