Arusha: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, met with the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament during the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Tanzania. The bilateral meeting focused on enhancing Pakistan-Bangladesh relations through parliamentary engagement, economic cooperation, and educational exchanges.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Gilani congratulated the Bangladesh delegation on Ms. Jasharat Adib Chowdhury’s election to the IPU Executive Committee, a move supported by Pakistan. The meeting underscored the significance of Pakistan-Bangladesh ties and the importance of regional cooperation within the IPU framework.
Both leaders expressed a commitment to advancing parliamentary interaction and practical cooperation. Chairman Gilani proposed regular exchanges between civil service academies and universities of both countries and emphasized the need for deeper economic ties, particularly in trade and investment. The discussion also highlighted opportunities for maritime connectivity and cooperation in sectors like textiles and agriculture.
The Speaker of Bangladesh expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and echoed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding.
