Lahore: Chairman of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, met with representatives of the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan to address issues related to the Punjab Sales Tax on Services affecting travel agents and tour operators. The discussions focused on tax registration, return filing, and other taxation-related concerns, with a commitment to fostering a more effective and taxpayer-friendly system.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Chairman Sipra emphasized the importance of collaboration between the business community and the tax authority in improving the tax system’s effectiveness. He assured the delegation of cooperation in resolving the issues faced by the business community. The Chairman highlighted plans to organize awareness sessions, alongside digital and online systems, to enhance taxpayer understanding of compliance.
Both parties acknowledged the importance of promoting awareness about tax compliance, transparent business practices, and accurate tax payment. The PRA Chairman reiterated the Authority’s commitment to facilitating all service providers, including travel agents. The delegation proposed measures to simplify the tax system and ease compliance for businesses.
An agreement was reached to form a committee between the PRA and the Travel Agents Association to ensure ongoing coordination and awareness regarding taxation matters. Chairman Sipra noted that, following directives from the Chief Minister of Punjab, the PRA prioritizes facilitating taxpayers and building trust in the tax system.
