Islamabad: Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, met a delegation of civil servants from Bangladesh at the Parliament House in Islamabad. The meeting emphasized the historical and cultural relations between the two nations and explored avenues for enhanced parliamentary and diplomatic engagement.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Speaker Sadiq shared insights from his recent visit to Bangladesh, where he represented Pakistan at the funeral of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He conveyed condolences on behalf of Pakistan and expressed that the warmth shown by Bangladesh reflected a mutual desire for stronger ties. Sadiq highlighted the National Assembly’s initiatives toward becoming a digital and paperless entity, providing members with iPads to facilitate electronic access to parliamentary activities.
The Speaker outlined ongoing efforts to integrate modern technology and artificial intelligence within parliamentary functions to boost efficiency and legislative performance. He stressed the importance of Parliament’s role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on education, gender equality, climate action, and poverty alleviation. Sadiq also highlighted the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus’s role in promoting women’s empowerment and participation in democratic processes.
The delegation from Bangladesh expressed appreciation for the reforms and digital initiatives led by Speaker Sadiq and showed interest in increased parliamentary collaboration between the two countries.
